How do I store my wood?
If you’re lucky enough to have a shed or outhouse, this is probably the best option as your logs will stay dry and protected from the elements.
If you’re storing logs outside, it’s best to cover them with a tarpaulin as there’s always a danger of rain, in this country! It’s also a good idea to bring a few into the house before you intend to use them.
There’s an art to stacking logs … we recommend aiming for around a metre high and make sure you allow for plenty of circulation, leaving gaps between the logs. Each layer needs to be facing in the opposite direction. It’s a bit like wooden Jenga!
Do I Need Kiln Dried Wood?
Kiln dried firewood has force-dried in kilns in a short space of time rather than dried naturally over a period of time, know as "seasoned". Kiln dried firewood means that the wood will be under 20% moisture as per Government Regulations, meaning less pollution and better burning for you.
If you would like any more information about how we season our wood, please feel free to call us on 01476 879269.
